Student Activities Board will host its second Charger bar of the year Friday, Feb. 5.

The first Charger Bar, held on Nov. 20, had an attendance of about 80 people. Director of Student Activities Rebekah Dell said that number was to be expected.

"[The attendance] was what we anticipated for that even because there was a lot going on that weekend," she said. "Lots of people went to the Grand Valley game or had gone home."

Dell said they expect to have a much larger turnout on Friday.

Senior Winnie Gardiner said that they have made a few changes this time to appeal to more people.

"We have adjusted a few things now that we know what to expect," she said. "There will not be a D.J. this time, but there will still be good music."

Also, the furniture arrangement will be a little bit different to set a different mood, Dell said.

"We are making it a bit smaller - more intimate," she said.

The time the Charger bar will be open has shifted too. Open from 9-12 p.m. before, it will now be held from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.

"Most parties don't get started until later anyway, so we wanted to change our time to accommodate that a little better for students," Gardiner said.

If students come between 10 and 11, they do not have to pay the cover charge. After 11, it's $2.

Dell said that according to student feedback and the success that they had at the last Charger Bar, this will become a regular occurrence the rest of this year and even continue into next year.

"There will be one this month and two next month," she said. "It will be something we do during the colder months, once in the spring and once or twice in the fall."
