On Friday, Nov. 13, the Hillsdale County Community Foundation will match donations given to 14 non-profit organizations in Hillsdale County. The foundation has $50,000 to match donations with, and hopes to raise $100,000 in total donations.
Sharon Bisher, executive director of HCCF, said the foundation decided to focus specifically on non-profits involved in health and human services, such as food pantries, women's care centers, and counseling organizations. The idea was modeled on a Match Day that St. Clair, Mich., put on in the spring which Bisher said was successful for all the organizations involved.
"I think we'll make our $100,000 goal, hopefully a little more," Bisher said.
Each organization will raise its own donations and then have them matched, but gifts can be donated through HCCF by going to their website, www.abouthccf.org, and tagging the gift for any of the organizations.
