"We certainly don't ever want to cause harm," said Kirwan. "If their needs can be better met by providing their own meals, that's fine. We just want to do everything we can."

Some students have been surprised by the attention they receive.

According to junior Anna Bird, Saga has actually done more than expected - they have bought her almost any type of food she has asked for.

Bird, whose allergies include wheat, dairy, soy and eggs, has a theory why special diet students get so much attention.

"I think the people in charge like to cook," she said. "So if they get the opportunity to make something for individual students it's more of a fun break for them, rather than just running around managing all day."

If Fire & Ice, the portion of Saga specifically geared towards vegetarians and special diets, doesn't meet your needs, Kirwan has an alternative suggestion.

"Bring me the recipe that your mom makes that you like the best, and we'll give it a whirl," he said.
