The captains' presentation of the ball was unexpected, according to Otterbein. He said the accomplishment itself should be credited to the entire team and coaching staff.
"Anyone who knows how we run our program knows it's not a one man show," said Otterbein. "Something like a 100th win is rewarding and enjoyable for the entire coaching staff."
The team that the win came against is also significant. According to Otterbein, he and Tom Kearly, the head coach at Michigan Tech, were graduate assistants together at Central Michigan University. They have been good friends since then, and have stayed in touch weekly.
