'Most popular fair on earth' comes to Hillsdale; rides $1 on Sunday

The Hillsdale County Fair, "The Most Popular Fair on Earth," opens next week. This year marks the 159th anniversary of the fair. It will run from Sept. 27 through Oct. 3. Check out the following fair schedule for special events:
Sunday, Sept. 27
3 p.m. - Exhibits Open
4 p.m. - Rides Open
6 p.m. - Combine Derby 
Monday, Sept. 28
9 a.m. - Lightweight Pony Pulls
11 a.m. - Rides open
5 p.m. - ZIV: Alternative Rock/Pop 
Tuesday, Sept. 29
8:30 a.m. - National Heavyweight Horse Pulling Contest
11 a.m. - Rides Open
5:30 p.m. - Youth Department Parade
7 p.m. - International Demolition Derby 
Wednesday, Sept. 30
8:30 a.m. - Lightweight Horse Pulling Contest
1 p.m. - Rides Open, Harness Racing

7 p.m. - Air Margaritaville Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band 
Thursday, Sept. 31
9 a.m. - Mule Pulling Contest
1 p.m. - Harness Racing
1 p.m. - Rides Open
6 p.m. - Youth Department Animal Sale
7 p.m. - Modified & Super Stock Tractor Pulling 
Friday, Oct. 1
8:30 a.m. - Farm Tractor Pulling
1 p.m. - Rides Open
7 p.m. - Modified & Super Stock Tractor Pulling 
Saturday, Oct. 2
11 a.m. - Rides Open
7 p.m. - Craig Morgan Concert 
Admission on Sunday costs $2 for adults and $1 for children between the ages of 10 and 14.  Monday and after, adult admission is $4 and child admission is $1.  On Sunday, Sept. 27, also known as Dollar Day, all the rides cost $1 per ride.
