On Friday, Omicron Delta Kappa will host a leadership seminar for approximately 15 high school students from local schools. The seminar will feature a luncheon in the Dow Leadership Center with an address by Provost Robert Blackstock, followed by breakout sessions headed by different ODK members and a faculty roundtable discussion featuring Associate Professor of History Paul Moreno and Professor of Religion Donald Westblade.
ODK president and senior Ryan Walsh said the summit will focus on fostering leadership qualities in the younger students.
"We wouldn't do it if we weren't interested in these kids," he said.
Students from Hillsdale Academy and Jonesville and Reading high schools plan to attend.
Walsh said the honorary aims to use this event as a step toward restoring the organization's profile on campus, due in part to the influence of the group's adviser, Professor of English Daniel Sundahl.
"We're working to create a larger institutional profile," Sundahl said.
