Managing IM sports, an uphill battle
In intramural sports, lack of communication between directors and participants cause frustration

"Somehow Chi-O is always the team there when no else is," she said. "It is not fair we are told a game gets cancelled ten minutes before it starts, and we are there early. It is poor planning."
Freshman Abbie Christiansen, much like Ranville, said she has had two games cancelled with short notice before tip-off since she began captaining the independent women's team "Thunder." Despite this, she said she loves IM basketball's pluses much more than she is bothered by its minuses.
"I have definitely seen problems with organization," she said. "Despite this, even if it is frustrating, I still love having the chance to play."
Weil, meanwhile, said the various men's teams have met any trouble with flexibility, often making things work out even if players ignore the original schedule. Overall, he said, he feels his first year as a student director in IM sports went well.
"On the men's side of IM basketball, we have had no injuries and have had the chance to reschedule most games in a timely manner," Weil said. "Everyone is getting safer, no one is getting hurt and we are all having fun. We are always working towards making IM sports a better program."
