If you purchase block meals that include Charger Change , you won't end up paying taxes in Saga Inc.'s meal centers, said Becky Morrison, secretary to Saga President Tony Morrison.
"With Charger Change, you're not charged tax because it's part of your meal plan," she said.
Other students who load money onto their ID cards with credit cards will be charged, but not at the cash register.
"The tax is taken out as it's posted - it doesn't show at the time of purchase," Morrison said.
Instead, when students hand Saga workers their credit cards, they are taxed six percent on the sum they purchase then and there. Although employees may ring them up without tax, students should know if they load Charger Change onto their cards, they will still be taxed the same.
Also, Morrison said loading money onto a student ID card after the Saga office closes means the money won't be posted on the student's accounts until the next morning.
Otherwise, posting is just a phone call away. Students, parents or workers at Jitters can call Morrison directly and have her put the amount through.
"It's posted from the office," Morrison said. "If they need it posted immediately they can call me."
