"I realized there's a saturation point," Wilhelm said. "I've gotten similar grades and worked less… I don't really think about it much anymore, I'm able to enjoy school not thinking about the numbers," said Wilhelm, whose GPA is now a 3.92.

Elkins said she felt she kept a good balance between work and play to form close relationships with other students.

"There are lots of really exciting, intelligent, beautiful people here," Elkins said. "I have lots of good friends."

Elkins said her friends sometimes tease her about her study habits.

"They'll ask me, 'What did you do Friday night, study?'" Elkins said.

But Elkins said she wouldn't want it any other way.

"Looking back, I'm not sure I'd change a whole lot," she said. "I go to dances and basketball games; I play IM football."

Way said it can be difficult to balance homework and fun.

"I want to be able to form close friendships here and I think I do but I don't want to compromise either thing," Way said. "It's always a struggle and I don't think it will ever stop."
