"Our vocation is not to be the biggest group on campus, but to give easy access for people to play Frisbee," secretary Parker Fox, a freshman, said.
Both Fox and Vice President Patience Henry, a sophomore, said the club's formation was a result of popular demand and a need for structure.
Henry and Fox said name recognition and raising the campus profile of Ultimate Frisbee were benefits of an official club status.
"A lot of people didn't know [Ultimate Frisbee existed on campus]," Henry said.
Club officials foresee games beginning as soon as weather permits. They hope to eventually host tournaments of their own. It also does not anticipate needing a substantial amount of money from the Student Federation either.
"We don't really need that much funding; we might ask for enough for some cones," said Fox.
Pick-up games will still be organized via e-mail. Those wishing to become members may be added by e-mailing a club officer.
