The GLIAC conference meet opened with the Charger swim team setting a new school record and stroking into top spots.
The 200 medley relay team, composed of sophomore Alicia Leduc, junior Meredith Scott, freshman Linda Okonkowski and senior Anne Verhoef, swam into fourth, clocking a time of 1:49.26. This finish shaved a second and a half off the previous Charger record.
Freshmen Nikki Dyer and Michaela Wolfe opened with impressive swims in the 1650 yard freestyle, dropping their personal times and stroking into ninth and 12th respectively, out of 22 who placed.
Wolfe said these performances are "definitely a good start" to conference.
"All of our hard work is paying off," she said.
Assistant coach Jody Primus added that the team is very excited and aspires to keep up the good work as the meet progresses over the next three days.
"We're very hopeful for the rest of conference to go well," Primus said.
