'Ugg'-ly?

"All I own are flip-flops and Uggs," sophomore Aubrie Wagaman said. "I really like them."
Junior and avid Ugg supporter Hilary Hough said she owns three different pairs of the boots. Ever since her parents gave her her first pair as a Christmas present in high school, Hough said she has been impressed by their comfort and durability.
However, not everyone is quite so impressed.
"They serve a great purpose, but they're ugly," senior Kate Lundberg said. "They're one of those things that, because they're so popular, the ugliness of them is overlooked, and they're accepted. And they're even trendy and cool."
Senior Andrew Davis agreed, calling Uggs "nothing special."
"I think people should wear Wolverine boots," he said. "It's a top quality boot - I don't need any other kind."
Junior Amy Goodrich expressed one important advantage Uggs have over other boots.
"They have real sheepskin lining, and they make me feel like a movie star," she said jokingly.
So what exactly is the prime outfit for Uggs to complement? Some say the better question is, "What isn't?"
Hough said she wears hers with "everything… jeans, dresses, leggings."
Goodrich agreed but offered some bests.
"They go best with skinny jeans and any shirt that's not dressy," she said. "Or even sweat pants!"
If Hillsdale wants to catch up with the East Coast and up its fashion level, men better pick up the Ugg movement as well.
"Yea, I have a pair on right now," senior Chris Duncan said. "Back home, [ in New Jersey,] everyone just literally wears whatever is most comfortable. They're the most comfortable winter footwear."
However, Duncan said his decision to wear Uggs is by no means a fashion statement.
"They're not good-looking at all really," he said. "I think they're relatively good looking on girls, but they're just a really soft boot-thing - they're just very functional."
