Rugby's revenge
Team cleans up for their first home match against Wayne State University, bouncing back from an earlier Warrior defeat

Hillsdale rugby smashed Wayne State University with a score of 43-15 Saturday, more than compensating for their 10-0 loss against the Warriors earlier in the season.
Saturday's win - Hillsdale's first home match this season - gave the team an overall record of 4-1.
"I thought they [Hillsdale] would get better as the season progressed, but I didn't know they'd get that good," Wayne State's acting coach Phil Cackowski said.
Hillsdale's players were smaller overall, but displayed more speed and agility. Wayne State had trouble passing and winning the ball, whereas Hillsdale consistently won out in rucks and kept the ball moving from man to man throughout the game.
"We got outplayed," Cackowski said. "They were the first ones to the ball every time, and you can't win like that."
Freshman Crane Baer scored the first try of the match in the first half, giving Hillsdale an initial five point lead. Not long after Baer shouted, "My thumb's broken!" and left the field. Freshman Mike Morrison went in as a substitute.
Baer said he was running down the field with the ball, when he ran into a large Wayne State player. The player and the ball ended up trapping his thumb under the ball, where the weight of the player bent it back. After examination off the field, Baer and others determined his thumb was dislocated and taped it up.
After another try for Hillsdale by senior Mark Perkins, the first half ended at a score of Hillsdale 10, Wayne State 0.
During half time Baer traded shorts with Perkins, whose ripped shorts resembled a skirt.
"I'm either feeling Scottish or effeminate. I can't decide which," Perkins said.
At the start of the second half, the newly-shorted Perkins scored his second try, followed by a two-point conversion from junior Eric Coykendall, for an overall score of 17-0.
"We are getting f-ing manhandled. This is embarrassing. And we ran all over them the last game," Cackowski said to Wayne State supporters as he walked down the boundary line moving an orange touch flag.
