Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority will host a 5K (3.1 mile) run Saturday, Nov. 15. The race will represent the culmination of their week-long fundraising event, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Catch Me If You Can Drive. Students of Hillsdale College and Hillsdale Academy, professors and members of the wider community are invited to participate.

The race: Runners will gather at the Kappa parking lot for a 10:00 a.m. start. Head Cross Country and Track coach Bill Lundberg is helping the event committee to design the course and timing system.

Signs and timers will mark each kilometer and mile split. A lead vehicle will guide participants, and a follow vehicle will be present for safety reasons also.

After the race, the sorority will provide refreshments to all runners and award prizes to the winners of each age group.

The course: Starting at the Kappa house and finishing near Roche Sports Complex, runners will follow a marked course around campus and on the new bike trail off of West Street. Once the course is finalized, a map will be available on the chapter's and the Collegian's website.

How to sign up: Kappa Kappa Gamma will provide sign-up sheets during lunch in the Grewcock Student Union beginning next week.

Registration will cost ten dollars or five dollars plus five cans of food. Race-day registration at the start line will also be possible.

The cause: Non-perishable food items from the can drive will be donated to the food pantry of the Hillsdale Assembly of God Church in Jonesville.

Monetary proceeds will support Kappa's national philanthropy, Reading Is Fundamental, which promotes literacy by delivering new books to children in poverty.

For more information: Pamphlets providing detailed information and a course map will be available at the registration table in the student union. Contact Sarah Holland or Becky Tourison for more information.
