Hillsdale students have a new chance to show off their costume creativity Friday, when Sigma Alpha Iota fraternity performs its fall concert in McNamara Rehearsal Hall at 8 p.m.
SAI, the women's music fraternity, presents its latest talent to the Hillsdale community in what President Anna Johnson, a senior, says will be "a good mix" of silly and serious songs.
"We're very good at silly," she said.
Enhancing the silliness, senior Hannah Stone will again direct the performance as master of ceremonies.
This year, SAI will also hold a costume contest for audience members.
"We are opening up the contest to anyone in attendance and will be judging based on originality, wit and general flamboyance," Stone said, keeping the prize a surprise.
Members hope the combined effect of Halloween and audience disguises will make the concert even more enjoyable, Johnson said.
"The performers have worked hard and are full of creativity," senior Cameron Wilkens said.
"The program is quite varied, ranging from classical to Broadway to bluegrass, from comic to love-struck to tragic."
Some acts the women of SAI will sing are the french song "Cerf -Volant" and a Charlie Brown classic "Happiness" complete with "rewritten, Hillsdalian lyrics," Johnson said.
SAI members will also perform solos, duets, and small group numbers.
"It's exciting to see their multiplicity of talents," Wilkins said.
