Professor Loses to Ten-Year Old
Paul Moreno
Issue date: 9/18/08 Section: Sports
Fantasy baseball season ended early for political science Professor R. J. Pestritto, who lost in the playoffs to ten-year-old Mark ("Moak") Moreno.
Despite having both Cy Young contenders C. C. Sabbathia and Cliff Lee on his roster, Pestritto failed to meet the minimum innings-pitched requirement that he, as league commissioner, mandated at the opening of the season.
Moreno would have won the week, 7-2, regardless.
Pestritto finished in 11th place last season.
Moreno would not confirm league rumors that Pestritto has been dilatory both as commissioner and as manager.
"He's been a great competitor and I wish him all the best for next season," the fifth-grader said.
Pestritto, hunting wolves from a helicopter in Alaska, could not be reached for comment.
