Foreigner's "Eye of the Tiger" played over the sound system as the candidates walked onstage and the enthusiastic crowd chanted "drill baby, drill" and "U.S.A."
Just one day after the Republican National Convention in Minnesota, both McCain and Palin's speeches emphasized putting the government back in the people's hands, the importance of national security and ways to rescue the United States from its present energy dependence.
Michigan has been labeled a swing state in this year's election and will likely attract more political appearances before the November election.
Barack Obama visited Farmington Hills, Mich., Monday.
