Changes made to the garbage policy in Whitley Residence last semester have been revoked.
When the residence instituted a new garbage policy to increase efficiency last semester, resident advisors were charged with taking the trash outside to large trash bins, said Judith Schellhammer, the house director.
"One Sunday night we went out and there was no trash there," she said. "I was told that maintenance become frustrated that the trash wasn't in bags, although our RAs were throwing it out in bags."
Schellhammer said one resident saw a man picking through their trash before it was taken, leaving bags open and trash scattered everywhere.
"I was told that an elderly gentleman from town had gone through it for cans and bottles," she said.
"I guess we flunked trash," Schellhammer said, "Now we take it to the basement and maintenance takes it from there."
