Final Orchestra Concert May 8

The orchestra will perform Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 1, as well as concertos featuring seniors Hannah Van Der Swaagh on viola and Jeffrey Myers on bass trombone.
"Hannah is our first three-time winner of the [concerto] competition and a two-time first place winner," Music Department Chairman James Holleman said.
Holleman, who conducts the orchestra, said that they will perform after the end of exams so as to connect the concert with commencement.
"There is a repeat performance on Friday for an invited audience," Holleman said.
He said the guest list includes commencement speakers, the Board of Trustees, and parents of graduating seniors in the orchestra.
Nine graduating seniors will be recognized and presented with roses.
No tickets are required for the Thursday performance.
Hillsdale College's Big Band will play in an afterglow immediately following Thursday's concert.
