Five academic departments will join welcoming filmmaker Amy Serrano to screen and discuss her feature-length documentary, "The Sugar Babies: The Plight of the Children of Agricultural Workers of the Sugar Industry of the Dominican Republic," at 7:30 p.m, Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Phillips Auditorium.

The film, which is only being premiered at film festivals and universities, explores international and work relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as the working and living conditions for children and families of the sugar industry, according to a press release from the Sociology and Social Thought Program, with the departments of philosophy, religion, psychology, speech and journalism.
