Thirty-one Hillsdale College athletes received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Awards last fall, which is more than in most years, according to Sports Information Director Brad Monastiere.
Charger football received the most awards, with 14 athletes qualifying, followed by volleyball with seven, men's cross country with six and women's cross country with four.
"A student must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average (cumulative) and be a starting player, or major contributor to their teams" to qualify for the award, Monastiere said. "Also, freshmen and first-year transfer students are not eligible."
Students selected for the award receive a framed certificate, Monastiere said.
Hillsdale athletes earned more awards than three of the 14 GLIAC schools to receive awards.
