Olds shower heads recalled by state

Hillsdale College maintenance personnel removed three showerheads from Olds Residence Friday because they did not meet Michigan state code. As a result, the dorm was without hot water for several hours. There will be only eight showers for 80 women.
This is not the first shower problem the Olds women have faced this winter. Olds residents said their hot water heater does not keep the water warm for very long, forcing them to take short showers or else be doused with freezing water.
Freshman Anna Sawyer said that, on her south side hall of Olds, one shower is always hot and another is always cold.
"It wasn't as bad last semester," Sawyer said. "The water was never really hot, but I've taken a couple of showers this semester that have been freezing."
Olds House Director Mary Cobb said complaints about the lack of hot water have significantly increased this semester. Students say the bathroom sinks do not seem to have been affected, with water temperatures in them remaining consistent and relatively warm.
"It doesn't bother me that much, it just makes me take much shorter showers," Sawyer said.
