With a 2-2 record from their last four games, the past two weeks proved a roller-coaster ride for the Hillsdale College men's basketball team.
The team battled Albion College at home Nov. 21 and came out with a 77-74 overtime win.
Up by 10 points in the second half, Hillsdale defense faltered and allowed Albion to fight back gaining a seven point lead.
"We've been getting in a habit of coming out in the second half sluggish," point guard Keith MacKenzie, a junior, said.
Building on a big shot from forward Tim Homan, a senior, the Chargers came to a tie at the end of regulation but put Albion
away in overtime.
Hillsdale played at home against University of Indianapolis Nov. 19. Head coach John Tharp said the Chargers knew a "very athletic" team was coming to town. After leading the entire game, the Chargers fell behind with one minute left and lost with a heartbreaking 78-76.
Two days earlier, the Chargers collected an 84-72 intra-conference victory over Ferris State University.
"We took a step forward from [Bellarmine University]," Tharp said. "That's what we're trying to get: a step forward each day."
Hillsdale suffered their first loss of the season against Bellarmine Nov. 15, 80-71.
"We didn't play particularly well," Tharp said. "We were on our heels for a majority of the game."
