It was no small task for speaker Brian Greene Wednesday night as he embarked on a whirlwind history of quantum physics and attempted to convince the capacity audience that more than three dimensions exist.
The Pulitzer Prize nonfiction finalist and Columbia University professor spoke in Phillips Auditorium for the Center for Constructive Alternatives.
Author of "The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory," Greene concluded his talk by discussing string theory.
Cracking jokes and using Chinese restaurant analogies as explanations, Greene showcased the lucid wit and explanatory power that has landed him on national television.
He argued for string theory as the unified explanation long sought in the sciences.
Greene traipsed through a history of physics, emphasizing the mystery of the universe - large and small.
