Halloween has already passed, but the ghosts are still lingering in the theater department.

Director of Theater George Angell and cast have resurrected their spring production,

"The Dreaming of the Bones," and not because of nostalgia.

"The Dreaming of the Bones," the name of both the entire production and one of the three symbolist plays for which the production is named, was put on by the theater department at the end of last April.

"Last year was one of the busiest weekends on campus," Angell said. "This is an opportunity to see a show that a lot of people missed last year."

Senior Kate Roodhouse summarized the play.

"They're about bridging the gap between the spiritual and natural worlds," she said. "It's something different for Hillsdale, and it has a lot to offer if people are open to it"

The production is also up for consideration to be performed in Milwaukee this coming January for the American College Theater Festival.

"All the colleges in the Midwest are eligible to have one of their plays picked but not every school is picked," sophomore Christian Campbell said. "It's an honor to be chosen."

The theater department does not know whether or not they've been picked yet to go to Milwaukee, and they won't find out until early December.

For now, they're preparing for that possibility.

Angell said he recasted all the roles that belonged to last year's seniors.

"We have consolidated the roles instead of bringing in lots of new people," Angell said.
Campbell said the upcoming performances allow actors and crew to settle into their new roles in time for the festival.

"We definitely think its worthy to be seen off this campus," Angell said. "It's got so much student and faculty and it's really unlike anything you've seen elsewhere."

The performances will be held at Markel Auditorium from Wednesday, Nov. 14 through Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. There is also a matinee performance scheduled on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. No tickets or reservations are required.
