Hill to Hill: Hillsdale meshes with Heritage speakers

Raz, Levi, Nate and I piled into a corner table at Armand's restaurant, a great deep dish pizza place, our favorite because it's on our apartment block. Tonight, however, we weren't there just for the pizza but to hear conservative author Steve Hayward speak on Reagan and Churchill. The Accuracy in Academia, a non profit research group in D.C. that fights political distortions on campuses, reserved the entire attic floor seating of Armand's for this event. Alumni Mallon MacKenzie and Josiah Ryan soon joined our Hillsdale table.
Immediately, we began exchanging Hillsdale news with the alumni. We talked about everything from who just became engaged to how the Grewcock Student Union's construction progresses, about how fast the time has flown, and how we miss our Hill.
As the pizza rounds began, interns from all over Capitol Hill filled the remaining tables in the attic. The heat from the oven and the crowd of interns rose, so Levi opened the attic window to let some fresh air in.
The Accuracy in Academia representative welcomed us to the event. You could tell the rep was pleased at the turnout. He began by giving us a statistic that would make every one at our red- and white-checkered table proud. Before the rep introduced Hayward, he talked about his own research about how many colleges offered classes on Winston Churchill. To his dismay, and admittedly to our pride, he announced that he could only find one-Hillsdale College.
We couldn't let that go by in silence. The noise from our table let Hayward know that tonight he would have the pleasure of addressing a few Hillsdalians. Hayward threw out some references about Hillsdale that we knew would make Dr. Arnn proud.
We realize it is becoming increasingly well-known that Hillsdale's education is rare, and this semester, WHIP has strengthened that reputation. With two upper level political science courses and the work experience, Raz compares it to graduate school. There is much reading and much writing.
