For a mere $5 cover charge, music lovers enjoyed a night of rock 'n' roll in the chill atmosphere of Savarino's banquet hall, which boasted the benefit of an open bar for students of drinking age.

For the third semester in a row, Savarino's Italian Restaurant hosted the Black Sheep Show.

Hillsdale College bands Solipsis, Seraphim, The Narrows and Juny enterained at the Saturday night show.

Solipsis kicked off the evening with a mix of classic hits ranging from The Rolling Stones to Boston and kept the audience guessing with frequent lineup changes - switching between sophomore Jessica Parent, junior Jon "Sledge" Hartlaub and Luke Walker '07 for an original instrumental jam in which he communicated via a flurry of guitar solos and his wah petal.

Senior Noah Kerr and senior Josh Peterson tag-teamed the vocals for Seraphim, with Kerr jumping between his guitar and keyboard.

Solipsis was not the only band to include guest performers. Seraphim included senior Meredith Bogacz on violin and senior Abe Armstrong on bagpipes for a rendition of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," which junior Therese Eby said was her favorite part of the night.

The Narrows played third to a packed floor of dancing students, some inebriated. Their set featured all original songs, save one Velvet Underground cover, each belted in gritty '70s rock 'n' roll fashion by senior Evan Moran and complemented by the distinguishable, loping rhythms of senior Jon Dunn and steady, tasteful bass stylings of senior Kyle Janke.

The first chords played by junior Dan Miloch of Juny were met with shouts of excitement from the floor.

"I love Juny - this is happy music, and it makes me very happy to hear it," senior Tyler Walton said over the sound of a seamless guitar solo by junior Nick Tabor, copy editor for The Collegian.

Juny played an eclectic set of haunting and beautiful original tunes and covers songs that had the ecstatic crowd singing and clapping for the duration.
