Members of the group were provided with hotel rooms and dining while on the trip, Music Department Chairman James Holleman said. Senior Hannah VanDerSwaagh, a violinist in the group, said she and the other members are also getting paid for their traveling music.
"The students got to see the workings of the college at a fundraising level," Holleman said. "They got some insight into how the college functions with courting donors."
VanDerSwaagh said the trip opened her eyes to a new side of the college as she realized the process of obtaining outside resources.
She said the trip also helped solidify the bond among the foursome.
"This trip gave us the opportunity to spend some time together and develop friendships," she said.
Holleman said he enjoyed traveling around northern Michigan and crossing the Mackinac Bridge with the students.
