The Sage Center for the Arts hosted an artists' reception over the weekend to celebrate the opening of a new art exhibit. The exhibit, "Portraits in Michigan," features the work of 15 Michigan portrait artists, professionals and amateurs, ranging from World War II veterans to medical research scientists, until Oct. The ringmaster's encouragement energizes the audience as an acrobat skillfully maintains his balance on a spinning wheel as it plummets one second, rockets back into the air the next. (0) comments
In a family that loves to cook, senior Alexander "Zan" Fossel has a special role. "I'm the sauce guy in my family," he said. He explained that though he and his family learn from each other, they all have different specialties so they can complement each other's skills and cook together. (0) comments

The Sage Center for the Arts is no longer the only place Hillsdale College students can view art on campus. With the creation of www.hillsdaleart.org, Hillsdale's art is now available on the Web. "We needed to have an external Web site outside of the Hillsdale network to offer all we could," said Bryan Springer, instructor in art. (0) comments
