Swimming's medley relay places 23rd missing finals qualification

The four swimmers of the 200-yard medley relay - freshman Linda Okonkowski, sophomore Alicia LeDuc, junior Meredith Scott and senior Anne Verhoef - made their national debut in Houston, Texas, last night for the NCAA Division II National Championships. Along with the relay, Scott and Okonkowski swam the 200 IM event, and Verhoef made strides in the 50 free. (0) comments

Five representatives from the Hillsdale College indoor track and field team left for Houston, Texas, Tuesday to compete in the first annual NCAA Division II Winter National Championship held on the University of Houston grounds Friday and Saturday. Junior Aaron Falk heaved his way to an automatically qualifying distance in the weight throw earlier this year with a school record 19. (0) comments

Rugby edged out of win by penalties

The Hillsdale Rugby Club is regrouping after a hard-fought loss against University of Findlay Saturday. They were outscored 21-15 by a team junior captain Ian Faley called the "biggest, most organized team we have played." The margin of victory was a result of two penalty kicks - each three points. In intramural sports, lack of communication between directors and participants cause frustration

Senior Aubrey Calligan and senior Kurt Weil work tough jobs. As the student director of women's and men's intramural sports, respectively, both ensure the various IM sports run smoothly. With this year's edition of IM basketball, however, it has at times been a trying task. (0) comments

When I walked into the hall for the opening ceremonies to the Division II National Championship Festival here in Houston, Texas, my ears were greeted by the sounds of rapper 50 Cent, my nose smelt exotic seafood, and my teammates and I watched athletes from Saint Augustine College and Lincoln University get their dance on. As spring breakers head south, the Charger baseball team is no exception. During the break, they play six games against two teams. The host, Armstrong Atlantic State University, will play Hillsdale four times, leaving two games against Fairmont State University. (0) comments

The Hillsdale College men's basketball team, in a way, had one of the most successful seasons in the school's history - hosting a first-round GLIAC tournament game. With a final overall record of 16-11 and 14-8 in the GLIAC, the men finished as the three seed in the GLIAC, a spot not many had them pegged for entering the year. (0) comments

The race for Division II Women's Basketball National Player of the Year will come down to two names: Katie Cezat, a senior from Hillsdale College and GLIAC?MVP, and Britney Jordan, a senior from Texas A & M University at Commerce and Lone Star State Conference North Division Player of the Year. Tomorrow, seniors wide receiver Aaron Waldie and linebacker Tom Korte of the Hillsdale Chargers will participate in the University of Michigan's pro day - their second pro day this week. In the past, the University of Michigan pro day has been specific to U of M players, but in his first year as the Wolverine's head coach, Rich Rodriquez opened the event to outside players as well. Charger offense kept opponents on their toes, but coach says, defense needs help

Charger softball split against the University of Charleston and was swept by West Virginia State University this weekend in two double-headers in Charleston, W. Va. Head coach Jamie Meyers said while the team played strong offense, they are looking to improve their defensive work as the season moves forward. (0) comments
