Chuck Hinkley contracted leprosy when he ate a roadkill armadillo while working in a little town called Bonifay in the panhandle of Florida. His struggle with the disease inspired him to write the song "Heart Full of Grief," a ballad about a woman who kills her beau when she learns he has the same sickness. (1) comment

Assistant Professor of Economics Ivan Pongracic's surf band, The Madeira, took top honors in the surf music world this year when its second album, "Carpe Noctem" was named Pipeline Magazine's top album of the year. Surf music, an instrumental rock genre that peaked in popularity in the 1960s, has recently made a comeback. (0) comments

Senior quartet plans to roll out

Last night's well-attended sacred music concert capped the semester for Augmented Fourth, a quartet consisting of seniors Keaton Christiansen, Tom Cox, Nathan Pullmann and Allen Zarcone. But it certainly isn't their last hurrah. The four are planning a cross-country farewell tour for this summer, spanning nearly every state and 15,000 miles. (0) comments
