Delta Tau Delta picked up half of the men joining the Hillsdale College Greek system on Sunday. A ceremony that same day moved the newly re-established fraternity closer to becoming an official chapter. A stuffed red-tailed hawk is missing from the biology department display in Strosacker Science Center, said Associate Professor of Biology Tony Swinehart Wednesday. Student Federation granted $14,800 to the senior class gift Wednesday: an amphitheater behind Delp Hall estimated to cost $60,000. This was less than the $17,800 requested by senior class representatives last week. The senior class must raise the remaining $3,000 beyond the $2,200 that it has already contributed and recognize the federation and student body as co-sponsors in the funding of the gift. The last bank robbery in Hillsdale, Mich., happened in 1993. That changed Monday. At approximately 2:57 p.m., police were notified that Monarch Community Bank at the corner of West Street and Carleton Road had been robbed. Last Friday, the students of the Eta Sigma Phi classics honorary held their annual Date Infliction Auction, in which people buy members of the honorary to "inflict" them on someone else. The recent Strosacker Science Center renovation project included an advanced water lab which contains a living stream and 30 aquarium tanks. Researchers will raise and study organisms in the tanks later this semester. The college hosted 25 high school seniors last weekend, hoping to attract students strong in academics and extracurricular activities to the college. The high school seniors, who have been guaranteed half-tuition scholarships, competed through essays and faculty interviews for two available full-tuition scholarships and three 75 percent tuition scholarships. Hillsdale College Bookstore is asking students to snap photos of the store's bags on spring break. As a part of the store's "Take Your Bag" photo contest, students must take photos during their vacation period of the bags in creative situations.
